The best times to hunt and fish, wherever you are.

What it does

Hunters and anglers have long observed that fish and game feed most actively around the moon's daily overhead and underfoot passes, and around moonrise and moonset — an effect commonly held to be strongest near dawn and dusk and around a new or full moon. This idea is known as solunar theory.

Feedline turns that into a straight answer to a practical question: when should I go out today? It calculates the sun and moon positions for your location and presents the resulting major and minor periods as a simple daily schedule.

How it works

The astronomy is computed on your iPhone by an engine we wrote and tested against published sun and moon data from the U.S. Naval Observatory. There is no server doing the maths and no forecast being downloaded, so the app gives the same answer with the signal off — useful, since the places worth fishing often have no reception.

To find a spot, you can search by place name using Apple's built-in map search, or fall back to a place and ZIP-code database bundled inside the app when you're offline.

Availability

Feedline is still being built and is not yet available on the App Store. Features described here are planned and may change before release. When it ships, we'll link it from this page and from Apps.
